Ion Beam Physics

The ultimate goal of fundamental research at LIP is the ultra-sensitive and background free detection of radionuclides. To achieve this goal, a deep understanding of ion-matter interactions including their applications is required and development of sophisticated simulation tools is pursued. Research related to materials sciences aim at high-resolution depth profiling, microscopic ion beam techniques and investigation of defect production in solids.
