In situ 14C extraction line

At LIP, we have the nearly unique opportunity to extract cosmogenic in situ 14C at high temperature from a pure quartz mineral separate (~5 g). The extracted CO2 is then measured (without graphitization) using the gas ion source MICADAS system. Projects include deciphering periods of glacier coverage and dating ice retreat in cold-based glacier regions where 10Be data may be affected by inheritance (Greenland, Antarctica; recent publications).
