Small samples and direct CO2
Most samples are measured at ETH directly on CO2 avoiding the conversion to graphite (as required for high-precision measurements). The direct measurement of CO2 is applied often in Geoscience applications, when low precision is required or when samples are very small. The special requirements apply to those measurements and are only performed in scientific collaborations.

The versatile gas interface developed at ETH Zurich allows for the direct measurement of A.) combusted organic samples and B.) decompose carbonate gas samples with the MICADAS.
