Materials sciences

To serve the needs of our materials science program, two particle accelerator systems are at our disposal. Since 2018, a 1.7 MV Tandetron accelerator with dedicated beam lines for RBS, ERDA, NRA, PIXE, and STIM is exclusively used for ion beam based materials sciences. The 6 MV Tandem accelerator can be used for MeV-SIMS and for applications requiring heavy ions within the energy range 20-70 MeV bout 70 MeV (depending on atomic species).
