Sample preparation

The AMS analysis require sample processing and separation of carbon inherent to the formation of studied material. The process of extraction suitable carbon or removing the contaminants is called sample pre-treatment. In the next step extracted carbon is either combusted (oxidized) or released in acidification (carbonates, water) and dependent on the sample size Graphitized or directly analyzed in the Gas Ion Source.
