Graphitization

The LIP is equipped with 3 graphitization systems (AGE) to convert up to 63 samples per day into graphite. The fully automatize graphitization produces reproducibly well-sized and pure graphites, that are key for high-precision radiocarbon analyses.
One AGE system is additionally to an elemental analyzer for organic samples equipped with a carbonate handling system (CHS2) for carbonate as well as water samples and a cracker unite for CO2 samples supplied in glass ampules. Also, air samples can be directly loaded from air bags with the air loading facility (ALF) to the AGE system.
